Four Strings Academy Mission Statement
The Four Strings Academy is founded on the conviction that with focused instruction, every student can develop his or her own voice on a stringed instrument. Our goal is to help students make rapid progress by focusing on technical and musical skills. A strong understanding of what it means to become a dedicated artist will be emphasized as will learning how to work and perform together. In doing so, students will also learn the skills needed to become professional and functional artists in a very competitive field.
The three-week stringed festival is the vision of Mrs. Mariana Green-Hill. She and her faculty are dedicated to the art of teaching and performance technique. A wonderful and positive experience for all students concerned is provided. Students are assigned well trained instructors who are patient and experienced in teaching aspiring students of all levels and backgrounds. Faculty members hold degrees from accredited institutions which include the Juilliard School, Boston University, The New England Conservatory, New York University and Mannes College of Music. Students are encouraged to work diligently to achieve short and long-term goals.
The Four Strings Academy is held at The English School in Jamaica Plains, Massachusetts. This three week program is specifically geared to students of diverse backgrounds, ages 4 to 18, who are dedicated to becoming professional musicians. Their daily schedule of instruction includes private lessons, chamber music, ensemble, scale class, ear and rhythmic training, music history and theory, sight reading, theatre arts, Dalcroze eurythmics, and chorus. Students also attend seminars featuring different aspects of music, drama, and the art of musical etiquette and performance as well as perform and attend master classes with noted and acclaimed violinists. This year we are excited to add Harp and Bass to our repertoire of instruments!!!
